I am owner of Renee Connor Cake Design, a custom cake shop in Derry, NH. While I create cakes for any occasion, my specialty (and passion) is beautiful wedding cakes.
I am almost entirely self-taught, and attribute the ease with which I picked it up to my background in art. I’ve taken many art classes including drawing, sculpture, painting, even jewelry design and welding! While I have no formal training in pastry, I have been experimenting in the kitchen since I was young, Through trial and error, as well as the guidance of some very talented and creative women in my life, I developed a skill for scratch baking.
About 4 months after I started decorating cake, I entered the Connecticut Cake Competition on a whim… and found that I had won a first place ribbon as well as the division trophy! That’s when I knew that this could be a real career for me, and in 2010 I opened Happy Cakes by Renee (which is now Renee Conner Cake Design).
After receiving many requests on how I executed different designs, I started my YouTube channel. I produce video tutorials that teach scratch recipes, cake designs and techniques. I really enjoy sharing my techniques, and will soon be launching local classes.
I have been fortunate enough to have had my cakes published in Cake Central Magazine on several occasions, as well as featured on blogs such as Style Unveiled, Wedding Chicks and Cake Geek Magazine. My cakes have been featured in photo shoots for venue promotional materials, and in 2013 I provided cakes for Allure Bridal style shoot for their 2014 spring collection!
