Dany Lind

Dany Lind has always been in love with sugar art, and she still has her first favorite cake book: the 1977 Wilton Yearbook. “I remember being very young and looking at that book for hours, trying to imagine making all those beautiful cakes,” Dany says. “It was like edible magic.”

After spending some time as a writer, editor, and graphic artist, Dany became a stay-at-home-mom to three boys, and taught herself how to make the birthday cakes her kids wanted. Her cake creations became popular with her friends and their kids, and Dany’s Cakes was born. In 2010, a client ordered 100 decorated sugar cookies for a party, and she discovered a whole new world of sugar art. “Cookies are miniature works of art,” Dany explains. “I love to play with texture and design on such a small scale, creating cookie sets that really tell a story and pull at people’s heart strings. Choosing just the right combination of designs, colors, and textures is like creating a sugar storyboard.”

Dany currently sells cakes and cookies to local customers out of her licensed home kitchen in Turner, Maine. Her work can be seen on Facebook and on Instagram.
