Lucia Simeone began with a love and study of major national and international cake artists. Her artistic drive pushed her in 2013 to experiment with a new product in Italy: wafer paper. Curiosity, a love of painting with simple and clean lines, and the merging of these with this "wonderful new paper" gave birth to her technique, which she likes to call "painted wafer paper".
Lucia won using this technique at the Italian Cake Design Festival in 2013. In February 2014 she participated in the Italian Championships of Cake Design hosted by the Italian Pastry Federation, winning both the Gold Medal and the "Innovation Award " for her technique and use of the wafer paper.
She also garnered three nominations at the 2015 Awards of Italian Cake Design: best wedding cake, best flowers, and best cake designer. She gives courses throughout Italy and Europe and attends international events as a guest instructor.
