Hi, my name is Kim Oborne. I started working at “Publix Supermarkets” at 18 years old as a sales clerk. Everyone knew I had a huge interest in decorating cakes so I started to learn all I could from the decorators. I worked at Publix as a cake decorator for 33 years. While working there, in 2009, I submitted a portfolio and was one of the three chosen to compete in the “IDDBA” cake challenge and came in 1st place. I also worked with “Deco Pac”, doing a stadium cake for a super bowl party, when it was here in Florida.
I just recently retired from Publix and now do cakes and decorated cookies at home for family and friends. Making cakes has been very rewarding for me. I love learning new techniques and using them in my work. I have learned so much from Sharon and all her guests. It is great to be a part of her online school!!

½ tsp. vanilla
½ cup flour
¼ tsp. salt
1/3 cup mini chocolate chips
Cream the butter and sugar in a small bowl. Add water and vanilla and mix well.
Add flour and salt and stir to combine. Stir in choc. Chips.

I add this to about 2 cups of my favorite buttercream icing, which just happens to be “Sharon Zambito’s”. It’s one of my most favorite fillings!!
