I’m Kat, from the blog Do You Cake ? I’m French, and live near Paris. In "real life", I work as a psychomotor therapist, trying to help children with psychological troubles, or developmental delays.
I discovered Cake Design by sheer chance when I wanted to please my children for their birthdays with Spiderman and a Hello Kitty cakes. It was so fun that I opened my blog immediately afterwards. It was in 2011. I haven't stopped since then! On doyoucake.fr, there is not only fondant cakes, but also a lot of SugarEd things, but fondant cakes are a big part of my life now.
I learn with on-line tutorials but I also taken other courses. I do not sell my cakes; in France the pastry diploma is required for that, and a license which fits the hygiene rules. However, one year ago I started my own business teaching students in their homes and also I sell hand-made fondant decorations as modeled figurines or cake/cupcake toppers. I’m curious, always want to learn new techniques, always looking for new ideas! I don't know where all this will go, as I'm still keeping my job, but it seems to be a very fancy adventure !
Cream Cake
200g flour
200g sugar
4 eggs
190g sour cream
11g baking powder
Pre-heat the oven to 180°C or 350 F. Sift the floor with the baking powder. Whip the eggs with the sugar at high speed until it frothy and turns pale. At low speed, add the flour and let mix. Add the cream. Change the whip for the flat beater and mix just what is needed, don’t over mix. Put in the mold (20cm diameter) and bake for 45 minutes.
